About this project
Whenever I needed to buy something from the dollar store in town, I would always take a look at the rack of tabloids and wonder “who are these for?” When the assignment to create a magazine came up, I knew exactly what to use as my inspiration.
The pictures, except the one featuring Kim Jong Un, were taken by me and photoshopped to fit the narrative. I used the most vibrant, obnoxious color of pink I could find and used yellow text to really sell the tabloid feel. I used my experience as an editor for my college’s newspaper to create layouts that were readable, but still broke the rules of design for magazines.
